DSI 2021 - Instructions to the GOLF Pro's - Captains - Food and Beverage
Thank you for hosting the Dallas Senior Interclub ("DSI") tournament
(please note that due to COVD-19 things are different this year)
Please feel free to contact me, Dan Kirkwood at 214-995-6255 or dsi@dallasseniorinterclub.com, with any questions.
TIMES
- 8:30am – call to carts for announcements
- Call to carts
- announcements
- 8:45am – “head to tees”
- 9:00am – shotgun start
The following are the requirements for the event. Of great importance AND a source of discontent if not followed is the “Course Setup Preparation” below limiting the overall length of the course to approximately 6,200 yards and the maximum length of any par-3’s limited to 165 yards!
- When all is said and done, the main things in the below text are:
- A spreadsheet will be provided at end of business on the Friday preceding the event. Use the Quota’s as specified in the spreadsheet
- The cart pairings are as specified in the Pairing column in the spreadsheet
- A master PDF will be sent along with the excel spreadsheet
- Sometimes there are last minute changes. Someone will show up as a substitute for someone else. The master PDF will have the entire league and their QUOTA’s for the event. You can lookup their quota and “pencil in” their name and quota on the scorecard for the person they are replacing. It is helpful to print this PDF and have it available at the pro-shop desk during check-in in case there are any last minute substitutions. This list will have everyone’s DSI stableford quota.
- This document will be provided as a PDF to you
- Or if you prefer, you can cut and paste this document into WORD and add any local rules at the end, print and place on each cart.
Lunch will be an option for those choosing to eat. We have worked out the details with your DSI Captain and he will have coordinated with Food & Beverage following your club’s COVD-19 restrictions.
- Food & Beverage
- We will need a small scoring table that can seat 2 people at the front near the “Scoring Sheets”. This will be occupied by Dallas Senior Interclub staff for scoring.
- We will need 10 tables that seat 10 people each with “tents” containing the club-name on each table (there will be 100 people sitting even though not all will eat)
- The names of the clubs:
- Brookhaven
- Canyon Creek
- Eldorado
- Hackberry Creek
- Lantana
- Oakmont
- Prestonwood
- Thorntree
- Timarron
- Trophy Club
- Please insure that there is a bar available to the players. At your preference it can be ‘club-charge’ only or include cash and/or credit cards payment.
- The Pro Shop will be provided a list of those electing to eat lunch. However, since this is not absolute, you should have someone taking names and club affiliations at the serving line.
- The names of the clubs:
- Pro-Shop & DSI Captain
- General
- At 8:30 AM, announce that players should head to their carts, and be ready to proceed to their tees within 15 minutes.

- Have your staff ready to lead the players to their respective tees promptly at 8:45 AM, with balls in the air no later than 9:00 AM.

- Please request that your management provide one or more drink carts during the tournament and have lunch ready as we finish.
- Stableford Points
- Course Setup preparation
- It will be the responsibility of the host Captain/Co-Captain to coordinate with the pro and course superintendent to assure that the course will be appropriately set up
- Courses on which the events are played will be set up to be approximately 6200-yards.
- No par-3 is greater than 165-yards.
- Cart Rules (and modified Stableford points) – print and place on carts
- An excel spreadsheet will be sent from the DSI Commissioner (usually in the evening on the Friday before the event)
- This will contain the teams from the clubs, pairings and who will be having lunch.
- Hopefully the columns are self-explanatory and all information is complete.
- It is sorted by “Clubname” + “Team Pairing” + “Last Name” which would be the normal way you would print the large blank scoring sheets that go on the wall.
- You should be able to import this file easily into Golf Genius or any other tournament pairing system you use.
- The column “Pairing” is the correct order for foursomes for the cart cards with two in one cart from one club and two in one cart for another club. By convention we mix up which teams will ride with which teams on a pre-determined rotation schedule
- The column “DSI Index” is a generated index adjusted to your slope and the DSI quota to use. If used as Index it SHOULD produce the correct quota
- The column “CH” is the course handicap adjusted to your slope and the DSI quota to use
- The column “Quota” is the quota for the players
- The DSI keeps track of past play and adjusts Quota’s accordingly. The spreadsheet SHOULD import and using the DSI index supplied, create the correct QUOTA based on your slope. Please note that at the beginning of the year, all slopes were submitted and entered on the website.
- Each player has his GHIN and INDEX adjusted to your course slope to provide the expected DSI Stableford quota points required.
- The DSI uses a stableford QUOTA where the QUOTA is based on previous play results.
- The spreadsheet has the QUOTA expected
- The spreadsheet also has an adjusted index that should result in the expected QUOTA based on your slope
